An Expert Report is an independent mechanical assessment prepared for use in legal proceedings before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) or the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). Our reports are prepared objectively and are based solely on the condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection.

No. No expert can honestly guarantee the outcome of any legal proceeding. The Tribunal considers all of the evidence presented by both parties before making a decision. Our role is to provide an independent mechanical opinion based on our inspection and professional experience—not to advocate for either party.

No. Our duty is to provide an honest, independent and unbiased assessment. If our findings support your position, we will say so. If they do not, we are equally obligated to report those findings. Our independence is essential to the credibility of our reports.

Not unless we can independently verify them. Our reports only include defects, damage or conditions that we personally observe or can independently confirm during our inspection. We cannot include assumptions, speculation, or findings that we have not witnessed ourselves.

Repair quotes and invoices may provide useful background information, but we cannot present them as our own findings unless we have independently verified those items during our inspection.

Yes. However, repairs may remove or alter the evidence that would otherwise have been available during our inspection. Where this has occurred, we will clearly state any limitations in our report.

Not always. In many cases it is not possible to accurately determine when a defect first developed or precisely how long it has been present. Where appropriate, we will explain the likely cause based on the available evidence.

No. Responsibility is a legal question determined by the Tribunal. Our role is to identify and explain the mechanical condition of the vehicle and provide an independent technical opinion where appropriate.

Yes. Where required, we can prepare expert reports and attend NCAT or QCAT to explain our findings and answer questions regarding our inspection. Fees apply.

No. Our inspections are non-destructive. We do not dismantle engines, transmissions, body structures or other components unless specifically agreed and authorised. Any limitations affecting our inspection will be clearly identified within our report.

No. We cannot report on defects that are concealed, inaccessible or otherwise incapable of being verified during our inspection. If a component cannot be inspected without dismantling the vehicle, we will explain this limitation within the report.

Additional defects may be identified after dismantling or during repairs. Our report reflects only the condition that existed and was observable at the time of our inspection. We cannot retrospectively include defects that were not visible or could not reasonably have been identified during our inspection.

Yes. Our reports are prepared independently, objectively and without influence from either party. Our reputation depends on providing accurate, balanced and evidence-based opinions.

No. We will never include observations, opinions or conclusions that cannot be supported by our own inspection or available evidence. Our reports are based on what we personally observe, document and verify at the time of inspection. Maintaining this standard ensures our reports remain credible, impartial and suitable for Tribunal proceedings.
